TUgis Conference: Maryland’s Geospatial Conference August 7–8, 2019 | Towson, MD

Submission Deadline: June 3, 2019

TUgis Conference is pleased to host two competitions highlighting the importance of cartography to the geospatial community. The Map design competition is only open to students, and is meant to showcase static visual displays of information. The App competition will have separate student and professional categories, and is meant to showcase online visual displays of information.

Entries in the Map-App Design Competition should demonstrate the use of GIS for specific applications, and should illustrate the importance of the visual display of geospatial information in addition to overall user experience. Maps and Apps submitted for the competition will be displayed in the conference Map-App Gallery, and contestants are welcome to stand next to their entry to answer questions. In addition, there will be a special session where contestants are invited to interact with conference attendees.

Registered conference attendees will vote in person for winners in the following categories:

  • Student Map
  • Professional App
  • Student App

Winners will be recognized at the end of the day at the Ice Cream Social and be awarded a complimentary TUgis 2020 registration for up to one individual per submission.

Beginning this year, entries to the Map-App Design Competition will go through a submission and review process similar to that of other presentations. Maps should be submitted as a pdf file which the TUgis staff will print and display at the conference. Apps should be submitted as a URL that links to the content.

Contestants may only submit one map and one app entry to the competition. Entry is free and should use the online submission form below.
